A short stay in Morocco does not mean you have to skip the Sahara. With 4 or 5 days you can combine Marrakech, the High Atlas, the valleys of the south and a night in the dunes. Here are the itineraries we recommend.
If you have 4 days
The 4-Day Morocco Tour from Marrakech is a loop: the Dades Valley on day 1, the Merzouga dunes and a desert camp on day 2, Ouarzazate on day 3 and back to Marrakech on day 4. It is the best way to see the real Sahara without rushing.
If you have 5 days
The 5-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech follows a similar loop at a gentler pace and adds Rissani, an old caravan town with a traditional market, and more time in Ouarzazate.
If you only have 2 or 3 days
Choose the 2 Day Trip from Marrakech to Zagora or the classic 3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. With one free day in Marrakech, add a day trip to the Ourika Valley, Ouzoud or Essaouira.
Short on time? Our 4-day loop is the best way to see the Sahara from Marrakech.

Tips for a short trip
- Arrive in Marrakech the evening before your tour so you can leave early.
- Keep your main luggage light: you will change hotels every night.
- Choose spring or autumn for comfortable temperatures in the desert.
- Plan your return flight for the day after the tour, not the same evening.
A sample 4-day plan
- Day 1: Marrakech to the Dades Valley via the Tizi n’Tichka pass and Ouarzazate.
- Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga, camel ride and a night in a desert camp.
- Day 3: from the dunes back west to Ouarzazate.
- Day 4: Ouarzazate to Marrakech across the High Atlas.
Adding a day in Marrakech
If you can, keep one day in Marrakech before or after the tour to visit the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Garden, the souks and Jemaa el-Fna square. It balances the long road days with a slower day in the city.
Who are short tours for?
They are ideal for travelers on a city break in Marrakech, couples on a long weekend, and anyone who wants to see the Sahara without committing to a full week on the road.
